First off you'll need some lollipop sticks and a good selection of cupcake liners.
Always keep a tub of fondant ready along with a fair selection of food colouring
Keep different coloured chocolate melting wafers and lots of sprinkles handy at all times.
You should also keep some basic cookie cutter shapes handy.
One of my most used tools are my decorating bags, if you don't have these though you could always snip the corner off of a plastic sandwich bag.
And of course a must have for decorating sweets is a tub of icing and a good spatula
